The sorted collection of municipal solid waste is a crucial step in implementing waste reduction, resource recovery, and harmless disposal. It plays a vital role in improving residents’ living environments, achieving sustainable urban development, and building a resource-conserving society. To raise awareness of waste sorting among community residents, on October 10, 2020, the Taiyuan Branch of Shenzhen Longjishun Industrial Development Co., Ltd., with the strong support of the Xiaodian District Urban Appearance and Environmental Sanitation Administration and the Pingyang Community Office in Pingyang Jingyuan Community, held a large-scale waste sorting awareness campaign at Pingyang Jingyuan. Through activities such as hanging waste sorting banners, distributing informational flyers to residents, organizing waste sorting games, and conducting Q&A sessions, the event explained the importance of waste sorting to residents. This effectively raised residents’ awareness of waste sorting and improved their practical skills, while also enhancing their civic literacy.

We will extensively educate residents to enhance their understanding of waste sorting. Staff will conduct outreach to people on-site to ensure that the message of waste sorting reaches every household, disseminating specialized knowledge on waste sorting to each family. This will enable residents to gain a thorough understanding of the technical aspects and practical methods of waste sorting, thereby improving their civic awareness.

Through a series of fun games, residents gained a deeper understanding of waste sorting and worked together to build a beautiful community. We also prepared some small souvenirs to encourage the participating children and make them feel a little warmth.

Staff from the Pingyang Jingyuan Community of the Pingyang Subdistrict Office, together with employees from Longjishun’s Taiyuan Branch, jointly promoted knowledge about waste sorting, listened to residents’ opinions and suggestions, and emphasized that everyone should start with themselves—civility begins with each of us.

Start with the little things, start now, and start by being civilized

Neat formations, upbeat music, and lively dances attracted more residents to join the event.

This event has inspired more people to adopt the mindset that “waste sorting starts with me,” helping to instill the concept of environmental protection in people’s hearts and encouraging them to consciously develop the good habit of sorting waste. In this way, our skies will be bluer, our water will be cleaner, and our air will be fresher.
